Terms of Use

These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the ICORA MED website and training platform. Advisory, consultancy and organisation training engagements are governed by a separate written proposal or agreement, not by these Terms.

Accounts

You must provide accurate information when registering, including the full name to be used on any certificate issued to you. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.

The platform is intended for maritime professionals and learners in professional education. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and an account found to belong to a child under that age will be removed.

Course access and licence

All course materials, articles, assessments, certificates and the ICORA MED name and logo are owned by ICORA MED or its contributors and are protected by copyright and other intellectual-property rights. On successful enrolment or purchase, you receive a personal, non-transferable licence to access the course for your own learning. Course materials may not be copied, redistributed, resold, publicly shared or used to train automated systems.

Certificates

Certificates of Successful Completion are issued once the course requirements are met. ICORA MED may revoke a certificate found to have been issued in error, or obtained through misuse of the platform, academic dishonesty or a breach of these Terms. A revoked certificate is shown as revoked in the online verification system, and we will notify you by email, with reasons, when a certificate is revoked.

Membership

ICORA MED membership is separate from a free account. The first 500 verified accounts receive a complimentary Founding Membership, which carries no recurring membership fee. No payment card is required and Founding Membership is never converted into a paid subscription automatically.

Founding Membership covers the benefits described on the Membership page — access to member-only courses and resources, participation in Ask ICORA MED, member pricing on eligible paid courses, and Founding Member status. It does not include courses, certification programmes, live workshops, consultations or organisation services that are priced separately, and it does not include team or organisation features.

One membership is permitted per verified account. Memberships are personal and non-transferable. We may suspend or remove a membership obtained through duplicate or fraudulent registration, or where the platform is misused; removing such a membership returns the place to the founding pool. Membership benefits may change over time. Where a change would materially affect existing Founding Members, we will give notice before it takes effect.

Ask ICORA MED and member content

Members may submit maritime questions for professional discussion. Selected questions receive responses from verified ICORA MED contributors. We do not guarantee that any question will receive a response, or any response time. Responses are general professional guidance for education and discussion. They are not engineering approval, classification approval, certification, legal advice or regulatory approval, and they do not account for the full technical, operational or regulatory context of a specific project.

Do not submit confidential, proprietary, client-specific or personally sensitive information. You retain ownership of what you submit and grant ICORA MED permission to store it and to respond to it. A question and its response are published in the public Knowledge Base only where you have given permission at submission, and published entries are edited to remove identifying details. ICORA MED may edit, decline, moderate or remove submissions, and may apply reasonable limits on how many questions an account may submit.

Payments

Some courses are free to access and others are offered at a price. Where a course is priced, the price shown on the course page is the total amount payable, in the currency stated. Payment is taken at the point of purchase by our payment provider, Stripe, and our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms, applies.

Contributed course material

Where an approved expert authors a course or article for ICORA MED, the expert confirms they hold the rights to that material. They grant ICORA MED a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual licence to publish, host, translate and adapt it for platform delivery, and to keep it available to enrolled learners, including after the expert stops working with ICORA MED, so that learners keep the access and certificates they were promised. Contributors retain ownership of their own underlying work and remain credited as its author. Any different arrangement must be agreed in a separate written expert agreement.

Limitation of liability

Training is provided on an "as is" basis for educational purposes. See our Training Disclaimer for important limitations on the use of course content.

To the extent permitted by law, ICORA MED is not liable for loss arising from reliance on course content or Ask ICORA MED responses, for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of business, profit or data. Our total liability to you in connection with a course is limited to the amount you paid for that course. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Independent development

ICORA MED training material is developed independently and is not intended to incorporate confidential or proprietary client information. Contributors are required to respect applicable confidentiality and intellectual-property obligations.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by email or on the platform at least 30 days before they take effect, and continued use of the platform after that date means you accept the updated Terms.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that is used in breach of these Terms, for academic dishonesty, or for fraud. You may close your account at any time from your account settings. Certificates already issued to you remain verifiable after your account is closed.

Acceptance

By creating an account, enrolling in a course or joining as a member you accept these Terms, the Privacy Policy, the Training Disclaimer and, where you buy a paid course, the Refund Policy.

Who you are contracting with

This website and training platform are operated by ICORA MED LTD (company no. 17436212), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer in the United Kingdom or the European Union, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
